1. Open the chat to whom whatsoever you want to send.
  2. Tap + icon to attach. This will let you attach your file, audio, gallery, GIF, location, contact.
  3. Choose whatever you wish to send:
  • Click the file to select a document from your phone.
  • Click on Camera to take a picture with your camera. Choose Gallery to select an existing photo or video from your phone. You can select multiple images or videos. Dooth sets a limit of 32 images and videos.
  • Choose Audio to send existing audio from your phone.
  • Choose the location to send your location or a nearby place.
  • Choose Contact to send the information of a contact saved in your phone’s address book.
  1. You can add a message to a single photo or video, for more than one photo or video, Swipe between photos to add captions to each one.
  2. Tap Send.

Dooth allows you to send instant voice messages to your contacts.

  1. Open a chat
  2. Tap and hold the microphone in the text area and start speaking
  3. Once finished, release your finger from the microphone, the voice message will automatically send.
  4. You can slide > cancel the recorded voice message.
  5. or else you can tap and lock the microphone to record voice without holding it, then tap send
  6. Here you can cancel the recorded voice message by tapping ‘cancel’.

By using the reply feature, you can respond to a particular message in an individual or group chat.

  • Tap and hold the message > tap reply icon or swipe the message >  type your response and tap send.

This feature allows you to forward your messages from a group, individual chat, or from Note to Self, forwarded messages are indicated with a label.

  1. Tap and hold the message you want to forward, then tap > forward
  2. you can select multiple messages to forward after you select the first message.
  3. You can also forward media, GIF, and location to stories.

You can forward up to six chats at a time, including stories. Dooth sets up forwarding limits to maintain data privacy.
You can delete messages for yourself or everyone if you send the message to a wrong chat or your message contain any mistakes.

To delete messages for everyone

Deleting messages for everyone allows you to delete a particular message you have sent to a group or an individual chat.

Messages you successfully delete for everyone will be replaced with “Oops Sorry! That wasn’t meant for you”, In your recipients’ chats. Similarly, if you see “You deleted this message”, in a chat, it means that the sender deleted their message for everyone.

To delete messages for everyone:

  1. Open Dooth and go to the chat containing the message you wish to delete.
  2. Tap and hold the message. Or else, tap more messages to delete multiple messages at once.
  3. Tap Delete at the top of the screen > Delete for everyone.

To delete messages for yourself

Deleting messages for yourself allows you to delete your copy of the messages you’ve sent or received from your phone. This does not affect your recipients’ chats.

Your recipients will still see the messages on their chat screen. To delete messages for yourself:

  1. Open Dooth and go to the chat containing the message you wish to delete.
  2. Tap and hold the message. Optionally, tap more messages to delete multiple messages at once.
  3. Tap Delete at the top of the screen > Delete for me.

The Archive Chat feature allows you to hide a conversation from your Chats screen and access it later. You can archive groups, individual chats or Note to self to better organize your conversations. Archive Chat doesn’t delete your messages.

 

 To archive a chat

  1. In the Chats screen, tap and hold the chat you wish to hide.
  2. On the top bar, tap Archive (icon).

The chat is now archived and won’t appear on your chat screen.

To unarchive a chat

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Chats screen and tap Archived conversation.
  2. Tap and hold the chat that you wish to unarchive.
  3. On the top bar, tap Unarchive.

Deleting chats

Deleting a chat allows you to delete a chat from your Chats tab.

 

To delete an individual chat

  1. In the Chats tab, tap and hold the individual chat you wish to delete.
  2. Tap Delete > DELETE.

To delete a group chat

To delete a group chat, leave the group first,

  1. In the Chats tab, tap and hold the group chats you wish to delete.
  2. Tap and hold the group chat again and tap Delete > DELETE.

Or else, you can delete the group from the Conversation settings.

Clearing chats

Clearing a chat allows you to clear all the messages inside a chat.

To clear an individual chat, group chat or Note to self.

  1. In the Chats tab, open the chat you wish to clear.
  2. Tap more options > Clear Chat.

The Location sharing feature allows you to share your current location or nearby places.
To share your location, you’ll need to enable location permissions for Dooth by going to your phone’s Settings > Apps & notifications > App permissions > Location > turn on Dooth.
or, if you recently opened Dooth, you can go to your phone’s Settings > Apps & notifications > Dooth > Permissions > turn on Location.

To share your location:

  1. Open a chat or group.
  2. Tap + icon to add > Location > Share current location or nearby places.

o    Optionally, add a comment on the text field.

Dooth allows you to personalize your photos by adding emoji, text, freehand drawing and cropping.

 

To use these features:

  1. Tap the quick camera button or + icon on the text field.
  2. Take a new photo or choose an existing photo from the picker.
  3. Choose what you want to add to the photo.

When you add an emoji to a photo, you can rotate, resize and move the emoji.

  1. Choose the Emoji button in the top right.
  2. Tap to select an emoji.
  3. Hold down on emoji to drag it to any part of the media.
  4. To resize the emoji:
    o Pinch in on the emoji to make it smaller.
    o Pinch out on the emoji to make it larger.
  1. To rotate the emoji, pinch and turn the emoji.

When you add text to a photo, you can change the size, font type, rotation, and colour of the text you add.

To add text:

  1. Choose the “Aa” button on the top.
  2. Type in the desired text in the text field.
  3. To select a colour, slide your finger up and down the colour selector on the right.
  4. To resize the text:
    o  Pinch in on the text to make it smaller.
    o  Pinch out on the text to make it larger.
  5. To rotate the text, pinch and turn the text.

To create a group:

  1. Go to the CHATS tab in Dooth.
  2. Tap More options > New group.
    o    or, tap New message  > More options > New group.
  1. Search for or select contacts to add to the group. Then tap the blue arrow.
  2. Enter a Group name. This will be the name of the group that all participants will see.
    o    The Name limit is 25 characters.
    o    You can add emoji to your Name.
    o    Optionally, add a group icon by tapping the Camera icon. You can choose to use your Gallery.
  3. Tap the blue checkmark when you’re finished.

You must be a Group Owner or Admin to add or remove participants from a group. Only the owner can make Group settings regarding, who can change Group name, description and icon. The settings include Owner only or Admin, if the owner gives privileges to the Admin, then only the Admin can make changes.

  1. Open the Dooth group chat, then tap the Group name.
    o    or, tap  More options   > Conversation settings.
  2. Tap Add participants.
  3. Search for or select contacts to add to the group.
  4. Tap the blue continue button when you’re finished.

To remove a participant:

  1. Open the Dooth group chat, then tap the Group name.
    o    or, tap  More options   > Conversation settings.
  2. Tap and hold the participant you wish to remove.
  3. Tap Remove {participant} > OK.

In Dooth, the creator of a particular group is known as the ‘Owner’ of the Group. Only the Owner can make a participant as an Admin. A group can have any number of admins.

Note: The Owner of a group can’t be removed and will always remain an Owner until the Ownership transferred to another participant.

Group owner or admins can change the group name, icon, description, or send messages, by default. Even so,  a group owner can group setting to Owner only to edit group info.

  1. Open the Dooth group chat, then tap the group Name. or,
    • tap more options >conversesationsettings.
  2. Tap to Edit  next to the group icon and name
  3. Enter a new name, then tap Save.
    • The name limit is  25 characters.

  3. Choose to use your Gallery,  to add a new image or you can Remove icon.

  3. Enter a new description, then tap OK.

Leave group

If you leave a group, you’ll be removed from the group. Even so, you’ll still see the group in your CHATS tab and be able to read the chat history. If you’re the Owner of the group and you want to leave the group, you have to transfer the ownership to a participant.


To leave a group:

  1. Open the Dooth group chat, then tap the group Name.
    1. or, tap More options  > Conversation settings.

Delete a group

After you leave a group, you have the option to delete the group. When you delete the group, you’ll no longer see the group in your CHATS tab and the chat history will be erased. To delete a group after Leaving a group:

  1. Open the Dooth group chat, then tap the group Name.
    • Tap More options  > Conversation settings.
    • or, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab.
  2. Tap Delete icon > DELETE.
    • If you don’t want to delete the group media from your phone, save the media.

You can mute group notifications for a specified period of time. You’ll still receive messages sent to the group, but your phone won’t vibrate or make noise when they’re received.

Sent

The green mark signifies that the message has been sent from your device. And the red mark signifies your low internet connection due to which message is not delivered.

Delivered

This signifies that the message has been sent but not read by the receiver.

This signifies that the message has been sent successfully and read by the receiver.

 

*Based on your convenience you can manage the read receipts settings. Read receipts are basically the function that helps the user to know whether their message was read by the receiver or not. The condition is if you disable the read receipts you won’t be able to see read receipts from others.

What to do if your Dooth message was not delivered?

  1.  You need to wait until you and the receiver’s internet connection are properly enabled.
  2.  If the issue is not resolved, then the user needs to troubleshoot notifications (hyperlink to the troubleshoot notification page) for their device, and they need to ensure that battery optimization settings are not interfering with message delivery.
